Membership Categories & Requirements
Membership is open to all Information Technology Professionals, Practitioners and anyone with Professional Interest in Computing.
Professional Fellow
The Grade of Fellow is the highest of the profession and it is granted to any interested Member who can prove his/her professional activities, justify his/her acceptance as an authority in his/her particular field of computing; has made significant contribution to the growth of the Society; and in addition fulfilled any of requirements A or B bellow:
- Be at least thirty years of age and has not less than ten years relevant professional working experience, at least five of which must have been in position of senior management responsibility.
- Has professional activities and achievements justified and accepted as an authority in the profession.
- Be considered by the Society to be fit and proper person to be so recognized.
- Holds a certificate of an examination or examinations recognized by the society for the membership grade.
- Has his/her application sponsored by two Fellows in writing and in such manner as the Society may, from time to time prescribe.
- Applicant for Fellowship grade must have been a Member for at least 10 (ten) years, of which at least 2 (two) years out of 3(three) years (preceding the date of application), of regular attendance/participation in the activities of the Society can be verified.
- Must have been registered by CPN for at least 3 year
- First degree(HND or B.Sc.) in Computer Science/Information Technology/any related discipline OR Computer Professional Examination (CPE Stage II)
- Practicing IT for a minimum of 20 years
- Must have registered with NCS and CPN or concurrently registering with the Fellowship application.
- Must pay special admission fee to be determined by the Council.
- Must also fulfil ii, iii, v in Requirements – (A) above
Member
Prospective applicant to be admitted as Member must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:
- B.Sc./HND in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses (from approved institutions) with at least five years of proven post graduation professional experience in Computing/IT
- M.Sc./M.Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses with at least three years of proven post graduation experience in Computing/Information Technology
- B.SC./HND in non related courses in addition to Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science/Information Technology with not less than three years post PGD professional experience
- Must have passed the Computer Professionals Examination (CPE) III
Associate Member
Prospective applicants to be admitted at this level must possess at least one of the following requirements:
- B.Sc./HND in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses but less than five years of proven post graduation professional experience
- MSc in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses with not less than two years of proven post graduation professional experience
- B.Sc/HND in non related courses in addition to Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science/Information Technology with not less than two years of proven post PGD professional experience
- Must have passed the Computer professional Examination (CPE) II
Graduate Member
Prospective applicants to be admitted at this level must possess the following requirements:
- B.Sc/HND in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses with less than three years of proven post graduation professional experience
Technologist
Prospective applicant must have at least one of the following qualifications:
- National Diploma for recognized institution
- Computer Professional Examination (CPE) I
- Certification Examinations e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle etc
Student Member
Students currently undergoing a course of study in computer science/ Computer Engineering/Information Technology or related course in a University or Polytechnic or other Institutions of Higher learning recognized by the Society.
Honourary Fellow
Conferred on individuals who are not computing professionals but have contributed in one way or the other to the growth of Information Technology in the Country.
Affiliate
Granted to applicants who are not Computing graduates but has attended computing training for at least one year or has worked for at least 2 years in a Computer environment
Corporate Member
- Granted to Corporate Organisation/Company with interest in Computingand must be registered by Corporate Affairs Commission.
- At least two (2) members of the organisation must be registered with NCS
