NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ELETIONS 2023: THE ELECTORAL COMMITTEE

The President and the National Executive Council (NEC) appointed and inaugurated an Electoral Committee to oversee the conduct of NCS General Election of 2023.

Members of the Electoral Committee are:

    1. ‘Femi Williams FNCS – Chairman
    2. Prof. Rebecca Vincent FNCS – Alternate Chairman
    3. Euphemia C. Nwokorie FNCS – Member

Terms of Reference are:

    1. To organise free, fair and credible election for Nigeria Computer Society in the coming 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM)
    2. To effectively implement the current Electoral Guidelines of the Society in the conduct of the election

Accordingly, the Committee is pleased to release the following information in respect of their election.

NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2023: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Application is now open to all interested but qualified members into the elective positions of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS).

The Elective Position are as follows:

    1. President
    2. Deputy President
    3. Chairman, Conferences Committee
    4. Chairman, Innovation, Research and Development Committee
    5. Chairman, Credentials Committee
    6. Chairman, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee
    7. Chairman, Education and Manpower Development Committee
    8. Chairman, Publicity, Events and Trades Services Committee
    9. Chairman Audit Committee
    10. Zonal Coordinators & Representatives to CPN Council X 6 (One from each of the Six Geo-Political Zones).

The requirements for all positions and mode of applications are as in the electoral guidelines.

Guidelines and Basic Requirements for Elective Positions

ELECTIVE POSITIONS:

  1. President
  2. Deputy President
  3. Chairman, Conferences Committee
  4. Chairman, Innovation, Research and Development Committee
  5. Chairman, Credentials Committee
  6. Chairman, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee
  7. Chairman, Education and Manpower Development Committee
  8. Chairman, Publicity, Events and Trades Services Committee
  9. Chairman Audit Committee
  10. Zonal Coordinators & Representatives to CPN Council X 6 (One from each of the Six Geo-Political Zones)

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ELECTIVE POSITIONS:

  1. Must be a Member of the Society and a fully registered by CPN for a minimum of 3 years.
  2. Must have attended two NCS Conferences and one CPN IT Professionals’ Assembly within the last 3 years.
  3. No interested candidate can hold a position for more than 2 terms consecutively.
  4. Must be paying annual dues at both NCS as at when due and CPN yearly in the last 3 years. Hence, must be a paid-up member at both NCS and CPN
  5. Must be an active member of his/her local Chapter and be recommended by the local Chapter.

 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ELECTIVE POSITIONS:

  1. President
    1. Must be a Fellow of the Society.
    2. Must have served in the NEC for at least a total number of 4 years.
    3. Must have a degree in Computing or Information Technology related discipline.
  1. Deputy President Must be a Fellow of the Society.
    1. Must have served in the NEC for at least a total number of 2 years.
    2. Must have a degree in Computing or Information Technology related discipline.
  1. Chairman, Conferences Committee
    1. Must have served in the NEC or Conferences Committee for at least 2 years.
    2. Must have a degree in Computing or Information Technology related discipline.
  1. Chairman, Innovation, Research and Development Committee
    1. Must have served in the NEC or Publications Committee for at least 2 years.
    2. Must have a degree in Computing or Information Technology related discipline.
    3. An academic/Chief Research Officer (Ph.D holder and not less than the rank of a Senior Lecturer at a University or a Research Institute).

    1. Must be a Fellow of the Society.
    2. Must have a degree in Computing or Information Technology related discipline.
  1. Chairman, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee
    1. Must be a Fellow of the Society

    2. Must have a degree in Computing or Information Technology related discipline.

    2. Must have the ability to promote the image of the Society and interact corporately with the public.
